5 Tips for Successfully Starting Seeds Indoors

This can be as simple as adding a heated grow mat to your indoor setup. There are some exceptions to this rule – seeds that require cool or warm temperatures – so it’s a good idea to check your seed packet for important soil temperature information.

Once your seeds have germinated, they will need the right temperature to grow properly.

Cool-weather crops like those in the Brassica family prefer a cool growing season and don’t do well in a hot house. On the other hand, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants grow faster when the air temperature warms up. 65-70 degrees is still a good temperature to keep your seedlings from growing too quickly and becoming too leggy.

Pay attention to planting depth
Poor germination is often caused by planting too deep. This is because if you plant your seeds too deep, they will run out of energy before they can reach the sunlight and produce more seeds.
